Praveen Rao is a seasoned Government and Public Sector Advisor known for delivering measurable reforms that streamline government processes and enhance public service delivery. He brings over 18 years of experience navigating and decoding India’s most complex policy and governance landscapes. He has led large-scale, technology-driven transformations across central and state governments, PSUs, and urban development bodies. Praveen works closely with ministries and senior bureaucrats on projects of national importance, ensuring these efforts directly impact citizens’ lives.
Though he humbly calls himself an “outsider” to policy, Praveen’s influence mirrors that of an insider.
He stands out for forging policy consensus across sectors, architecting revenue strategies that grow state resources, and realigning growth frameworks to directly address national priorities. His strength lies in converting complex governance challenges into targeted, actionable reforms with measurable outcomes.
He is the author of the acclaimed Ballots to Benefits: The Impact of Pre-Election Social Schemes in India. The book is a bold examination of fiscal populism that has sparked national dialogue on subsidies, governance reform, and budgetary sustainability. He is also ready with his new book, Still, They Serve, The untold stories of India’s public servants .
